R A design along with Duchy Contracts are very please and proud to announce that their project was the winner of the Best Individual Dwelling at the LABC South West Buildings Excellence Awards at Friday nights ceremony. The project beat off stiff competition from 26 other finalists and will now go forward to the National Awards in November. This project has a fantastic mix of traditional and contemporary features and is located in one of the most sought after locations in the South West with only pedestrian access across a railway track, which made the construction all that more difficult. The dwelling was designed to allow it to sit seamlessly on the Headland and built entirely on site with timber frame, materials included a cedar shingle roof.
Some major obstacles to over come included a failing retaining wall and mine shaft which had to be capped with a cantilevered reinforced slab designed by Richard Holbrook Structural Engineer.
We are a relatively new architectural practice in our own right and to be nominated for such a prestigious award is amazing let alone winning it.
We are please to announce that our project The Haven in Carbis Bay has been selected as a finalist for our LABC South West’s Regional Building Excellence Awards.
Planning granted today for floodlights and grandstand onward and upwards for the football club.
